Landscape with Castle Ruins

This painting was not a result of a real place but an imaginary, fanciful one influenced by the landscapes of the  Hudson Vally School of artists. The man with his dog comes upon the castle ruins while on a hike. I chose a large black dog because of Laika, my black lab. It is an early morning scene with mist still rising from the river.
